Learners experiencing literacy difficulties, with or without a diagnosis, benefit from individual (or small group) bespoke tuition. This includes an initial assessment and 'getting-to-know' each other session followed by the delivery of bespoke tuition. For learners with dyslexic type difficulties, this is focused on a structured, cumulative, multi-sensory teaching program. Metacognition (awareness and understanding of ones own thought process) is incorporated into all sessions to develop independence and the transfer of skills and knowledge.

What do lessons include?
This will depend on the individual. For learners with dyslexic type difficulties, sessions include sequencing, memory and revision (or previous learning) activities along with opportunities to discover and practice new teaching points presented using a range of sensory inputs. Lessons are tailored to the individual learner based on initial and ongoing assessments and observations.
How long do lessons take?
This will depend on the individual learner and discussed with the learner and their families. Usually, lessons are approximately 1 hour in length but can vary from 45 minutes to 1 hour 15 minutes based on need.
Will there be homework?
Revision cards/ activities are developed during the lessons and are individual to each learner. Ensuring that these are practised between sessions is beneficial in supporting progress. I am happy to offer families advice on further activities to support learning on request.
Where do lessons take place?
This will be agreed prior to lessons taking place but can include your own home, educational setting or the teachers address. It is important that there is access to a good sized work space in a quiet environment with minimal distractions.
How much do you charge for lessons?
Lessons start from £45 for 1:1 sessions. Lesson content and length, group size and travel expenses are factors impacting on session costs. Session costs are always agreed in advance and are subject to annual review.
